Plantations

The policy of making plantations of loyal English settlers in Ireland, though associated with Protestantism, in fact began in the reign of Catholic Queen Mary who, despite her religion, distrusted the Irish. In the second of Rutherfurd's Irish books, the plantations form part of the story in several chapters, beginning with 'Plantation'.
