Ascendancy
This word has been applied to the period of Protestant British domination of Ireland from the Battle of the Boyne in 1690 until the end of the Victorian era. The story of this period is found in the second book of Rutherfurd's Irish saga, from the 'Ascendancy' chapter onwards.
